This Pinot Noir comes from two renown vineyard locations in Sonoma's cool coastal regions. The first vineyard sits 1,100 feet above sea level in the Fort Ross AVA, within view of the Pacific Ocean. There, above the dense fog line, the grapes are exposed to greater sunlight and are able to ripen fully while the brisk temperatures preserve their natural acidity. The second vineyard is located within the Russian River Valley AVA along its western edge. The soils here are heavier, creating a wine with more substantial girth.
Grape bunches were hand-picked and de-stemmed prior to fermentation in small open-top vats. Skins are gently punched down to extract flavor, color and texture. After being aged separately in French Oak for six months, the two wines were then blended and aged for several months more in French Oak barrels.
